Match Report - 24 Sep 2011, Phoenix Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI lost to Brentwood 3
Brentwood 3's must of heard that we thrashed Wapping 5's 8-0 last week and certainly came hard at us for the first half. Most of the play was in the Phoenix half for the first half of the match with some very experienced backs who managed to keep Phoenix out of their net. Phoenix started off sluggish and couldn't get going, the pitch didn't help which was very slow but we can't blame the pitch can we!?!? Phoenix let in two goals from Brentwood in the first half which were the result of silly mistakes. It wasn't until the second half that Phoenix finally woke up and started to play some good hockey. We were very unlucky not to have scored more than once with numerous efforts wide or umpiring decisions not going our way! Hannah Pickford finally scored with a penalty flick which found the back of the net easily. A good match which we will learn from, bring on University of Essex next week!!
