As directed by the AGM held on May 16th I am serving notice of an
Extraordinary General Meeting of Braintree Hockey Club.
The meeting will be held at 8.00pm on Wednesday 17th June at the
Clubhouse at Four Releet, Bocking Church Road Braintree.
*The reason for calling the meeting is the proposed Merger with Dunmow
Hockey Club.*
A report on the situation at this stage can be found below a further
verbal report on the outcome of the Dunmow AGM will be given at the meeting.

1. That Braintree Hockey Club agrees to a merger with Dunmow Hockey Club
with the name and shirt design to be agreed before next season.
2. That Braintree Hockey Club authorises our
Executive committee to work with
Dunmow Hockey Club
Committee to form a revised structure in order to operate
effectively ASAP.

CURRENT POSITION RE MERGER*
_Braintree__ view_
§ AGM gives overwhelming support to take the merger forward
§ A number of e-mails in support.
§ Since the AGM I have received only positive comments which along with
the appointment of Neil Cowen as Head Coach have seen 3 players thinking
of leaving the club actually confirming they are staying.
_Dunmow view as we understand it._
§ Men’s section seems to be positive from discussions held and from the
committee,
§ The same seems to be the case for the Juniors
§ However there were some reservations by the three ladies at committee.
§ Following the visit of Braintree representatives to a meeting with
Dunmow their ladies captain spoke to a number of her squad the following
day at a summer league fixture and the response apparently was positive,
the only doubt was the ladies captain.
§ Dunmow have a further committee meeting this coming week and their AGM
on 14 or 15 June when they will make a final decision on the merger.
* TEAMS*
§ At the meeting on Tuesday both clubs agreed for me to make
representation to the East Hockey association as the cut off date for
league entries is fast approaching.
§ Due to the necessities of the organisation they cannot give us any
more time to enter teams, but the names can be changed after the cut off
date.
§ Currently 5 Men’s teams are entered and would probably be placed in
Div 3, 5, 7, 8 & 10.
§ If the merger takes place one Men’s team will be withdrawn unless
there is a large influx of players. The team to be withdrawn will be
from Div 10.
§ Ladies teams will be 1’s in the east league 2N, ladies 2 in Essex div
1 and 3^rd ’s in div 4. There does not seem to be a problem in entering
the teams as the divisions are those that would happen if there was not
a merger.
§ 1 mixed team will be entered.
§ Possible entry into Indoor league with 2 Ladies teams men to decide.
*PLAYING LOCATIONS*
§ Four Releet, Braintree for most home matches and senior training.
§ Where a second pitch is required for Saturday home matches they will
be played at Dunmow Leisure Centre, Helena Romanies School, Dunmow.
§ Juniors will train and play matches at Felsted School
*FINANCE*
§ Braintree after the AGM set Charges at £90 cash or £100 split in 5
monthly payments by standing order with other charges changed accordingly
§ Braintree Match fees £10 full £5 youth and concessions per match
§ Braintree Junior Fees to be £1 per week
§ Dunmow Charge £120 per year paid at £10 per month by Standing order
and other charges pro rata.
§ Dunmow Match fees £6 full £4 youth and concessions per match
§ Dunmow Junior Fees charged at £85 per season for 35 sessions.
§ Both Clubs finances are in order Dunmow have about £5k to bring across
although there is a possibility of a £2k bill to settle although they
are fighting this currently. Braintree have also had £4k in the club
account plus funds in the Company account and Bar accounts and about
£48.5k in the sinking fund for the new pitch.
§ Dunmow have a plot of land to sell that should sell for about £65k
which will come with them to add to the sinking fund.
*Next Moves*
§ Dunmow are holding an AGM on 14or15 June to determine if they will merge
§ We hold the EGM on 17 June to give same verdict.
§ Both meetings will have a proposal to give executive committees the
power to set up the merger to enable the new club to operate in time for
new season.
§ A new club day to be held ASAP after the decision for all members of
both clubs with a BBQ and the Bar open as a ‘Get to know you day’
§ Press release to welcome all members and any new players.
§ Club day at start of September to be a team selection day.
